The Long Walk Home is pleased to announce that The Englewood Chamber of Commerce has awarded our organization with a $8,000 check to help fund its transformative programs for Veterans and military families!

This award was presented as part of a graduation event for the Chamber’s Leadership Team of 2022. Two other local organizations, Kids Needs and Ears Animal Rescue, were also recognized. The Long Walk Home was honored to be in the company of other nonprofits who are having such a positive impact on their respective communities.

Since it was founded 2006, The Long Walk Home has passionately worked with Veterans and their families and served as a resource for them to readjust to civilian life. The organization was originally based in the Florida Keys, where it operated a shelter for homeless Veterans. There, hundreds of Veterans were provided a temporary home. Since relocating to Venice, FL, The Long Walk Home has hosted dozens of local events and established its flagship Mentorship Program. The Mentorship Program teaches valuable personal-development skills that give Veterans and their loved ones the tools to acclimate to a new lifestyle. We also provide suicide intervention workshops, educating the local community on how to identify and prevent a suicidal crisis. The Long Walk Home has helped thousands of Veterans and families in the last 16 years, and we look forward to helping thousands more in the years to come.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the Englewood Chamber of Commerce for supporting The Long Walk Home’s mission. Generous gifts such as these help us reach a greater number of Veterans and family members, ensuring they all have access to our educational programs and resources.
