I’ve transitioned from Active Duty twice in my lifetime. The first was in 1998 from the Marine Corps. The second was in 2014 from the Active Duty in the Army National Guard. The latter being the most difficult.

I floundered about and became reckless as depression set in hard. Nothing I was doing seemed to have any meaning: I had the boat and the sail but no compass! When I learned about Ron and his mission I immediately jumped at the opportunity to help out. I’ve always believed that by helping others I may actually help myself.

Little did I know that the challenges he provided would be so cathartic and therapeutic! To complete the challenges I’ve had to dig deep and find my “why”.

I now have a compass and the knowledge that even the best of compasses need re-calibrating at times.
