We’re worth of their sacrifice if we take a moment each day—not only on the last Monday in May.
Memorial Day is set aside to remember and honor those who have passed, whether they gave their lives defending our freedoms or simply touched our lives in irreplaceable ways.
Reflecting on their loss reminds us that death is as natural as life—and far more inevitable.
You did not choose to be born, and you will certainly die; everyone you know faces the same truth.
That’s why it is essential not only to honor those who have gone before us but also the cherish the living.
If you love someone, don’t wait.
Hug them today—hold them close while you can.
If these words seem heavy, know that they are meant to inspire rather than burden.
We often assume the people we love will always be there, yet every life, no matter how fortunate, is touched by loss.
While some losses may seem smaller than others, each of us endures sorrow in our own way.
I have always viewed death as the final, unconquerable enemy.
The only way I can oppose it is by seizing life—by connecting wholeheartedly with those who care for me.
Today, think of the friend longing to hear your voice, the cousin, the comrade from the war, or that cherished even if distant relative.
Reach out and ask “How are you doing?” Remind them that you love them, that they matter, and that they are truly the best.
By embracing this call to action today, you set the stage for a Memorial Day richer than any forecasted rain could ever diminish. And in a year from now, you’ll be grateful for the moments when you chose to connect, no matter what challenges life may bring.
Happy Memorial Day.
May everyone you love enjoy a vibrant, healthy life, and may each of you celebrate many more days filled with care and connection.
